Synthetic Oil Change Intervals

A lot of people don't take the time to change their oil on the suggested mileage, most of us only have the weekends available to get an oil change and we don't want to waste our time getting one. Usually at the point we head to the closest and most convenient lube shop and get the cheapest special they have. By now I'm sure you've heard the sales pitch or the attempted up sell about synthetic oil changes intervals. Quality oil changes keep you and your car out of the mechanic shop, allowing you to not have to worry about expensive repairs. By changing from traditional oil change to a synthetic oil change you are helping keep your car running, not to mention that you will be saving money in the future.

If your car allows you to use synthetic oil changes intervals, most do, if you have a car that allows you to use a synthetic blend then you should change over. Most new car manufacturers highly recommend using a synthetic oil blend in your car, synthetic motor oils are genetically designed to be used in a higher rev or colder temperatures.

Before we talk about that, let's understand what oil does for your engine. Oil allows the moving parts of your motor to stay together and work efficiently without creating a dangerous type of friction that could cause unnecessary wear and tear which will eventually equate to overheating. Natural conventional motor oil is created from a distillation process of crude motor oil. Synthetic oils on the other hand use additives that help eliminate build up and sludge inside of the engine, the oils are also created by genetically modifying the structure of the oil itself. This is why synthetic oils can last a much longer time without needing to be changed. Most engine friction occurs when the motor is just warming up or while under high load. Synthetic oil helps guarantee the well being of your engine, regardless of your type of driving habits, whether its cool driving or fast back road driving. Another added benefit of using synthetic oil is that the required oil change time frame gets extended, because of the creation of the synthetic oil. Synthetic oil also has many other benefits compared to conventional oil, allowing you to save money on changes as well as insuring the stability of your motor.

Synthetic oils allow for the viscosity of the parts in your motor to be the ideal for heat reduction. In typical driving conditions, synthetic motor oils are by far the best solutions. Where synthetic blends do matter though is when driving in colder temperatures or when you are driving at high revs. Synthetic motor oil was created with lubrication in mind and in order to move efficiently throughout your motor. To re emphasis another time, changing to synthetic oil will save you from future hassles that could be caused by generic motor oil.Synthetic oil is specifically created, the breakdown that occurs during normal motor use is far less painful to your engine. Typically most oil changes are required every three thousand to five thousand miles where as with synthetic you can wait up to 10,000 miles.

Whats the biggest problem with synthetic oil? Price. Usually a synthetic variation will cost nearly twice as much as your usual conventional motor oil. However, as shown above you can get nearly twice as much usage as well as using it as a preventive against future motor or vehicle problems. The next time you head to your lube shop. Consider the pricing for synthetic oil and talk to your mechanic about it. I bet you'll be surprised at their response.
