Synthetic Oil Change

Most people seem to leave changing their cars oil to the very last possible minute, we live busy lives that don't leave a lot of room for things like oil changes. Usually at the point we head to the closest and most convenient lube shop and get the cheapest special. Now it's time to consider that more expensive offer that they've been telling you about, synthetic oil change. Quality oil changes keep you and your car out of the mechanic shop, allowing you to not have to worry about expensive repairs. Choosing a synthetic oil change isn't only smart for you, but its smart for your wallet book.

If your car allows you to use synthetic oil, most do, then you should take the necessary steps towards being proactive about using only synthetic oil. Typically most manufacturers actually recommend using synthetic oil, and most newer makes and models specifically require using synthetic oil as it has been precision engineered and consists of uniformed molecules.

Before we dive into that, let's understand what oil does for your engine. Oil allows the moving parts of your motor to stay together and work efficiently without creating a dangerous type of friction that could cause unnecessary wear and tear which will eventually equate to overheating. Typical, non-synthetic oils are created from a distillation process and refining of crude oil stock. Synthetic oil on the other hand rearranges the molecules to a new product that conforms to perfect specifications in shape and size while adding additional additives that help fight off sludge and other motor build up. Therefore synthetic oils can withstand higher levels of temperature and work more efficiently in these types of systems. A lot of motors friction occurs during the startup phase and under high pressure and high use. Synthetic oil overs a fantastic protection during all phases of motor use, whether its cool driving or fast back road driving. Another added benefit of using synthetic oil is that the required oil change time frame gets extended, due to the nature of this type of oil. Synthetic oil change not only protects your engines for a longer time frame, but it will help increase the time frame between necessary changes.

The main advantage to using a synthetic blend lubricant is that the actual flow of oil through you engines motor is far more efficient. In typical driving conditions, the difference in the oils viscosity won't matter much. Where synthetic blends do matter though is when driving in colder temperatures or when you are driving at high revs. The oil will naturally circulate more efficiently with a synthetic blend as well as more efficiently then your typical non-synthetic blend. To reiterate another time, the actual interval between each and every oil change is greatly reduced. Since synthetic oil is formulated, the actual breakdown under heat and abuse is far less and much more gradual. While a typical oil change is recommended for every 3,000 - 5,00 miles a typical synthetic oil change is only required every 10,000 miles.

So what are the drawbacks? Price. Typically synthetic motor oils cost twice as much as the conventional counterparts. However, as shown above you can get nearly twice as much usage as well as using it as a preventive against future motor or vehicle problems. The next time you head to your lube shop. Consider the pricing for synthetic oil and talk to your mechanic about it. I bet you'll be surprised at their response.
